"Sweet Home Haluwasa"

Here at camp we sing "Sweet Home Haluwasa" instead of "Sweet Home Alabama." For a lot of kids, this is the best place in the world. A place where adults sincerely care for them, a place a stability and consistency, a place where they hear that the Lord God Almighty loves and cares for them, and desires them to be part of His Kingdom...even if it's only home for a week or two. For Mark and I, it's our home year-round, which is more than awesome. We live on one of the three lakes and each season comes alive with new sights, and oh, what beautiful sunsets we see during the summer! Now we are enjoying the fall foliage and I just wanted to share a few photos I took while out walking yesterday. It's such a beautiful place!

I walked over the what we call "center village" yesterday to help Mark with something for a few minutes and I also wanted to share a few photos of that area. Center village consists of our dining hall, chapel / "Hummel", dorms, and is flanked by our "Frontier Village" buildings. Frontier Village is our youngest overnight program and starts out at age 6. We have begun construction to rebuild the Frontier Village cabins, but we have only been able to complete one half of the project. Camp is run entirely on summer camp, guest groups, and donations from local churches and other generous individuals. Right now we're lacking the funds and the manpower to complete it...but so far it looks awesome! There's always a lot to be done here, but the Lord is faithful, and Haluwasa isn't going anywhere!

Our dining hall bell. Yes, we ring it for every meal in the summer!

The front of the chapel. I love all of the vintage signage around camp. So cool. And even cooler that He Lives.

Don't they look great?!

And last but not least, my cute hubby!
